Dave Jeanson, co-proprietor of Matrix Drilling Fluids, knows this very well, having taken this position from the get-go in his vocation. Its about organizing penetrating liquids programs, he says. Numerous synthetic substances are used all the while, the ones utilized are reliant on where youre penetrating and the profundity. Jeanson says scientific experts, such as himself, and designers can be especially capable at this specific employment, as long as they dont mind their workplaces conceivably being situated on a boring apparatus. Or then again having probably the closest companion on occasion be a compact mud research facility. With the boring condition, when the drill-stream framework courses at a penetrating apparatus its intended to convey the stone youre boring up the boring tool to the surface arrangements, he says. Synthetics included incorporate beontonite, a dirt that manufactures consistency, an assortment of polymers, and burning soft drink can be added to the mud frameworks. Dave Jeanson. Picture: Matrix Drilling Fluids There are different difficulties when boring that arent consistently envisioned and may require making changes to the liquid framework boundaries accordingly. One is the point at which you have anomalous pressureyou need to have adequate mud thickness or you can have a well victory, Jeanson says. Do computations to discover what mud weight is expected to adjust the arrangement pressure. Another is when youre penetrating along and experience a hazardous hydrogen sulfide gas circumstance. A professional will respond by doing a mud test to figure out what should be done and whatever is important to secure human life. Something else to consider is, youre penetrating miles into the earth, a portion of these gaps no greater than eight and seventy five percent inches, and youre going into the earths dependability. You must be cautious. Jeanson reviews an extreme situation he confronted. I recall where we had both loss of flow and high weight simultaneously, he says. We had a pressurized development down beneath and up toward the surface had a lost flow zone, so we couldnt keep up the segment of liquid adequately to adjust the weight. We continued attempting to slaughter the well and recuperate the misfortunes up the gap; tense, since it could have prompted a victory situation. I was awake for three days in a row on that one. That is the point at which the activity is intense. Jeanson worked in the situation for a long time, moved into the lab to help with innovative work, growing new mud frameworks and recognizing new mud added substances. In the end it made him share the top crosspiece at his own liquids penetrating organization. Youre continually learning new things in this field and that is the thing that Ive consistently discovered energizing, he says. On the off chance that you like having another item, framework, or thought to work with then this a test somebody will appreciate. Eric Butterman is a free essayist. You're continually learning new things in this field and that is the thing that I've generally found exciting.Dave Jeanson, co-proprietor, Matrix Drilling Fluids

4 Ways to Stay Focused and Motivated When Working From Home - Classy Career Girl

4 Ways to Stay Focused and Motivated When Working From Home How often have you gone on Facebook just to check the news source for a second, just to wind up on your subsequent cousin's neighbor's photographs from a year ago's late spring get-away? Or on the other hand went on YouTube to watch an instructional exercise and ended up snickering at an arbitrary feline video 15 minutes after the fact? Too often. How profitable would you say you are the point at which that occurs? Most likely not profitable by any stretch of the imagination. Inspiration and self-control are a consultants' most exceedingly terrible foes. There's no controlled timetable like the one you get when you're working in an office, no social cooperation with collaborators, and no responsibility by means of your chief. So how would you remain concentrated on errands in any event, when youre working out of a home office? 4 Ways to Stay Focused and Motivated When Working From Home 1. Rise Early and Organize Your Work Day Traditionally When youre telecommuting, theres none of that nap button dramatization â€" when only five additional minutes transforms into 60 minutes, theres nobody to reprove you for being late on the grounds that theres no place to be late to. Customarily individuals who quit their ordinary 9-5 employment since staying in bed seems like a fantasy work for the most part find that it doesnt truly advantage them by any stretch of the imagination. Rather, you should prepare yourself to get up like there is a customary activity to go to. This will get you in a normal that advances efficiency. Profitability tops do shift from one individual to the next; a few of us are prompt risers, others are evening people, while some do the greater part of their work early afternoon. All things considered, set aside some effort to decide when your most profitable hours are and set your work routine as needs be (and stick to it!). 2. Separate Your Bedroom From The Office Try not to work where you rest is an exercise you take in right off the bat telecommuting. Night robe may appear as though the most agreeable work clothing, be that as it may, it is the most ineffective one. In any case, its not just about what you wear â€" a similar spot you go to unwind and rest can't be the room youre attempting to focus and complete some genuine work in. In the event that conceivable, picked one whole space to be your office space. On the off chance that not, at that point at any rate endeavor to isolate it in a manner so youre not taking a gander at your kitchen sink while composing. Or on the other hand gazing at your cushion, since at some point or another, you will end up wandering off in fantasy land on a bed in a work day. [RELATED: Sit Up Straight and Relax! 3 Productivity Tips for Digital Nomads] 3. Set Up a Workout Routine One of the advantages of working at home includes having the option to plan certain exercises you would typically delay or not do at all in the event that you made some full-memories work. A standard exercise would be one of these things, and when youre telecommuting, it comes as a flat out must. Most employments nowadays are stationary, particularly when youre telecommuting. All things being equal, you just stroll to your kitchen to get some espresso or make intermittent excursions to the washroom. Along these lines of life, over the long haul, is incredibly hurtful to your wellbeing. No more reasons â€" get off your butt and hit the exercise center! In the event that there are none in your neighborhood and the outing to the closest wellness community removes too large a lump from your day, look at some home exercise programs. Less, Mills, P90X, Insanity, or even Yoga are for the most part exercises you can do from home. 4. Put on Some Real Clothes The individuals who telecommute will in general make each day easygoing Friday and pick the most agreeable arrangement of garments. Since there's nobody to see you there's no reason for sprucing up, isn't that so? Wrong. Much the same as you need appropriate exercise garments, you need a force suit for a day at the (home) office. You cant simply wear tore workout pants and a droopy T-shirt constantly. As per Karen Pine, teacher of brain research at the University of Herefordshire, when we put on a thing of dress, it is entirely expected to embrace certain attributes related with that specific article of clothing. From the beginning of time, many dress things embraced a representative significance. Regardless of whether we're discussing proficient work clothing or easygoing end of the week wear, what we put on rouses our cerebrum to carry on with a particular goal in mind that is explicit to that specific outfit. In Conclusion: Tragically, telecommuting isn't appropriate for everybody. Contemplative people can undoubtedly telecommute without socialization with others, however individuals who appreciate the organization of others will eventually want those water cooler breaks. Regardless of whether you chose this specific way of life, on occasion you will end up relaxing. Its a significant basic symptom. That is the reason certain disciplinary measures (so to call them) are important to keep yourself at the pinnacle of profitability consistently.

The real student store cupboard essentials - Debut

The genuine understudy store pantry fundamentals - Debut This article was composed by an outer benefactor. Connor Gotto is drawing on his own understudy cooking encounters to list precisely what you need in your pantries at college. It was only seven days before the start of the 18/19 scholarly year that Waitrose sent shockwaves around the understudy network with its choice of five 'understudy store organizer' basics. Simply its name puts you off, isn't that so? In obvious Waitrose style, the rundown took after no store cabinet at any point possessed by an understudy. Truth be told, what number of understudies even have a store cabinet? Indeed, even the thought appears to be ludicrous. Heading Waitrose's contribution was the must-have Marigold Swiss Vegetable Bouillon Powder (ah truly, that staple), which comes 'liberated from fake additives and flavorings yet pressed with flavor' clearly. Vinegar, seasonings and soya sauce all natural, obviously complete the rundown, which is observably ailing in anything of substance and exceptionally probably not going to be viewed as a basic thing in our kitchen pantries. Help is close by, in any case, as we've assembled what we believe are the genuine basics that each understudy should save a space for in their kitchen. Olive oil The more cognizant we become of our wellbeing, the simpler it is to discount nourishments the menu that appear to have 'concealed calories' or may have amassed a terrible notoriety. Sometimes, this can be a positive advance, yet on account of olive oil it's not so much reasonable. Not exclusively is olive oil an extraordinary method to inject flavor into your cooking, it additionally bends over as the ideal dressing for servings of mixed greens, or an incredible base for pasta and noodle dishes. Besides, its additionally prone to be less expensive and more advantageous than shop-purchased choices. Truly, low-calorie showers and coconut oil might be the in thing, yet you can't get away from the way that olive oil is and consistently will be a kitchen staple. Pasta, rice and noodles While Waitrose's rundown is fine and dandy, it'll despite everything leave you running to the shop to get the base of your supper which is the reason you ought to consistently keep all around loaded up with some carbs that can be matched with bunches of various nourishments. Keeping your pantry loaded up with these three nuts and bolts is an absolute necessity have for each understudy. Not exclusively are they unimaginably modest, however they'll additionally save for whatever length of time that you need them, which means you're not going to wind up discarding ¾ of a pack. In this way, remain loaded up and you'll never wind up stuck for a simple supper again! Canned tomatoes Presently, we as a whole love a touch of accommodation food. In any case, this thing makes any dish a breeze to make. As the base of most of locally acquired sauces, canned tomatoes ought to be directly at the highest point of each understudy's shopping list. Midweek pasta? Include a couple of basil leaves. Mexican stew? Include beans and flavoring. Straightforward soup? Mix and include a twirl of cream. A regular container of sauce costs around £2, while jars of tomatoes are typically under 50p you do the maths. For some additional work, you'll spare a mess of cash! Chickpeas In spite of the fact that something of a curveball, chickpeas are an extraordinary store pantry staple for those occasions when a stroll to the shop is an excess of difficult work. This is additionally an incredible choice if your understudy advance is running dry! Besides, there are heaps of various ways that you can effectively utilize a container of chickpeas: Cook in the broiler and coat in flavors for a sound fresh other option Barrage with lemon juice, garlic and olive oil for the ideal hummus Add to curry for a decent hit of protein (less the expense of meat) They may appear to be unimportant from the outset, yet a couple of jars of chickpeas could be only the venture that you're searching for. Herbs, flavors and flavoring Stick with us on this one. Understudies have an uncalled for notoriety of being languid, messy and a little miserable with regards to cooking which (let's face it) just isn't accurate. The truth is, to make food that is both delectable and solid, you need a great deal of fixings, a significant number of which are expensive and don't have that numerous employments. By loading up on fundamental herbs and flavors, notwithstanding, you'll be outfitted with enough basics to prop your kitchen up the entire all year, adding flavor to even the blandest fixings. With a scramble of bean stew, a spoonful of curry powder or a sprinkling of herbs, you'll have the option to change the plainest of food into a culinary pleasure. Cooking doesn't need to be difficult work or costly you simply need a couple of key basics to truly make you go! Download Debut and connect with us on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn for more professions bits of knowledge.

4 Life Hacks to Make You a More Productive Employee in 2018

4 Life Hacks to Make You a More Productive Employee in 2018 4 Life Hacks to Make You a More Productive Employee in 2018 Examination shows that workers are presently less gainful than they used to be. Indeed, a pattern wherein representative efficiency has been declining on a yearly premise has been watched. In the event that, as a representative, you've been feeling inefficient, you should realize that you are not the only one. Be that as it may, your profession prospects in the new year could be connected to your efficiency levels. The following are some tricks of the trade that will make you a progressively profitable worker in 2018. The truth of the matter is that most representatives are focused - constantly worried, actually! Late exploration by Paychex that overviewed 2,000 full-time American workers found that most representatives are focused on more often than not. At the point when you think about the life of the normal worker: an exceptionally bustling workday over-burden with exercises, a long and distressing drive, the commotion of day by day life and different obligations that must be tended to, it turns out to be immediately clear why stress is so normal. While there are numerous approaches to manage pressure, maybe one of the most straightforward tricks of the trade, that is close enough for everyone, to lessen pressure is to tune in to music. Quiet, alleviating music can go far toward making you less focused and, accordingly, progressively beneficial. The intensity of music to decrease pressure is settled by research - particularly moderate, calm old style music. In this way, in the event that you are continually focused and it's as of now influencing your efficiency and everyday life, it may be a smart thought to stack up on some moderate, calm old style music! Benjamin Franklin is eminent for promoting the idiom, Right on time to bed, ahead of schedule to rise , makes a man solid, affluent and shrewd. And it's similarly as evident today as it was when Franklin initially said it. As per a worker from Electra Cruises , During a time of consistent interruptions, because of innovation and a monstrous populace blast, it tends to be hard to get some tranquil opportunity to yourself: calm chance to think, calm chance to work, calm chance to simply be. The most ideal approach to get this calm time is by getting up excessively early. Actually, research shows that we accomplish the best work of the day during the early hours of the day. Along these lines, it may be a smart thought to check whether it's conceivable to structure your day so that you're ready to fire awakening by 4 â€" 5AM. Exercise is consistently recorded as probably the most ideal approaches to improve efficiency to the point that it's nearly become a banality, yet the quantity of individuals that routinely practice is still little. There are such a large number of reasons why exercise will make you a significantly increasingly beneficial representative: On the off chance that you can accomplish all the abovementioned, your profitability levels will encounter a sharp increment. In the event that you don't work out, it may be a smart thought to remember it for your daily practice - maybe as something you do every day or a couple of times each week. You can express gratitude toward yourself later for the improvement in profitability you record! Maybe the best trick of the trade that anyone can execute that costs literally nothing is rest. Maybe because of how routine it is, rest is underestimated as a profitability hack. Many individuals accept that the way to being progressively profitable is to rest less - to consume the 12 PM oil, in a manner of speaking. In any case, this isn't the situation. Examination has discovered a connection between being all around rested and being very beneficial. Sufficient rest has additionally been connected to improved execution, better memory, great dynamic and other psychological enhancements. On the off chance that you get under six hours of rest day by day, you have to roll out an improvement: explore different avenues regarding getting at any rate six to seven hours of rest every day for a month or two, and contrast your presentation and efficiency levels and that of earlier months to check whether there is an improvement.

4 Ways to Ease Employees with New AI Software - Workology

4 Ways to Ease Employees with New AI Software - Workology 4 Ways to Ease Employees with New AI Software AI has been around for quite some time but it was only in the last five years did we see it grow in ubiquity, showing its uses in search queries, automating tasks, and personalization. It’s not only showing great benefit to personal users but to businesses as well. With its ability to perform and analyze tasks just as intelligently as a human being, more entrepreneurs have begun to adapt AI software into their processes. Whether it’s advertising, banking, security, or law enforcement, it has shown to enhance profit and productivity.   With these benefits, we see no signs of AI implementation slowing down in the near future. If anything, we will see more of it being implemented in more areas of work. However, such changes do come with a set of challenges one of them being the employees who are using it. 4 Ways to Ease Employees with New AI Software Most staff, especially the older generations, are not comfortable using artificial intelligence. If you are one of those employers facing such a dilemma, here are four things you can do to ease your employees. Acknowledge the Discomfort Employees may feel uneasy with AI simply because they don’t know what to expect from it. The best time to address that comfort is at the beginning of your implementation. Explain to them how AI will be beneficial to your industry and how it will benefit their roles. It’ll make their jobs easier since they don’t have to perform repetitive tasks anymore. If anything, they get to handle tasks that stimulate their creativity.   Also remind them that AI is really just an algorithm that can process data. It’s not there to take over their jobs. Human employees still possess many qualities that AI doesn’t have, one of them is emotional intelligence. While AI can handle massive amounts of data, the last say still goes to the human worker. Employ Onboarding Processes AI is a sophisticated technology that will be quite the learning curve for your employees. If you’re making significant changes to your operations using AI, it is recommended that you create an onboarding program. You may have a team dedicated to training employees, teaching them how to use AI tools. This greatly helps with the transition and will make employees feel more empowered to do their job. It will take some time to get them fully familiarized with the technology but the return of investment will be worth it.   Encourage AI Engagement Get your staff involved with AI as soon as they become familiar with it. It’s the best way to learn and dispel their fears of this technology. For example, if you want KYC compliance made simpler with AI, have them use it on the customers right away. Yes, there will be some pain points along the way but that’s what the AI onboarding team is for. To help prevent or correct mistakes and allow the employee to learn from it.   Show the Benefits Another way to ease employees fear of AI is to show them its benefits. Instead of seeing it as a threat, they should view it as an asset that can help make the workplace more efficient. AI can actually act as a virtual team mate that removes the burdensome tasks off human employees. It can even handle mundane questions that can potentially slowdown workflow. We’ve all been in that situation where we’re looking for that one piece of information or document in order to complete a task. With AI, you can find answers to your questions quickly, and get on with your work. AI can free employees with so much time, allowing them to focus on problems that require higher thinking.   If you already have AI implemented in your business, which of these steps did you take first to make your employees feel at ease? Angela on Local 24 Memphis South Main Recycles - Copeland Coaching

Angela on Local 24 Memphis South Main Recycles Thank you to Sean Parker, and Local 24 for a great story today about South Main Recycles!   In addition to my career coaching practice, I volunteer my time for a few causes Im passionate about.   One is recycling. My neighborhood in Downtown Memphis lost its recycling bins last year after our grant funded by the Office of Sustainability ran out.   Thats when myself and two of my neighbors, Bob Lundy and Sharon Leicham, decided to do something. A visit to single stream recycling facility ReCommunity and a few phone calls later, we found that adding recycling back into the neighborhood was just $100 per month for everyone. We started an online campaign to accept donations from other neighbors. We were able to raise over $1,200 from donations as small as $5 and as large as $100.   Then, the Downtown Memphis Commission generously matched what we raised! Recycling is back.   If youd like to use the single stream bins, theyre located next to the Memphis Farmers Market at G.E. Patterson and Tennessee Street.   If youd like to learn more, or to donate, visit Facebook.com/SouthMainRecycles. Watch the interview below:

Last few years been perfect

Last few years been perfect Virtually no one I know would answer that question positively without some humor or qualification. The reality is that life is about trade-offs we make to achieve what we want. It is about having clear, powerful goals and executing the activities that achieve them. But then why do we come up short? I could have accomplished more, been more productive if I had had more “Will Power”! Maybe you have said lines like that to yourself.   Will Power in fact should be the last-ditch effort when all fails; yet many of us start with it. Think of “Will Power” as a muscle you use to fight the triggers in your environment.   The environment you surround yourself with has guided your past. If you want a different result change the environment. Corporate example:   Culture eats strategy for lunch   Personal example: You become who you hang out with   If you are ready to change your life and take control, I recommend you read Benjamin Hardy’s book: On a personal note I struggle with diet. I know as I have aged that my body is no longer 100% compatible with my life style. I did a metabolic reset for 8 weeks and many health concerns improved.   Travel and work pressures reverted my habits back to 80% of my old ways and many undesired symptoms returned.   From this book, I now have the information I need to change my environment and habits. It is a choice I can make if I really want a different result. I am also struggling with the effect that political and cultural news has on my confidence, gratitude and emotions.   The world, and the US in particular, is going through a culture shift that will play out over years. I realize if I dramatically reduce my exposure to the current dialogs I will experience significant benefits.   So how might I change my environment to reduce my exposure to news and social media? Our coaching and executive development is focused on helping people commit to clear goals and reset their environmental design, so it supports their control of unfolding life and career steps. Here are some reasons why you are not getting what you want: You don’t know what you want and thus are internally conflicted Your desire for your goals isn’t strong enough You are not invested in yourself and your dreams Your environment opposes your goals We highly recommend this writer and this book because it could change your beliefs and mind set and it will give you proactive ways you can reset yourself and your environment to favor your success. Read this book and set up “You 2.0” ready to maximize your life progress going forward. As one reviewer described the book “It’s essentially a blueprint for life you can implement.” Take yourself to the next level you are worth it … remember this is not your practice life so live it to the fullest. If video is your preferred way of learning here is a one hour interview with the author discussing his concepts.

4 ways to spend your summer after graduation productively - Debut

4 ways to spend your summer after graduation productively - Debut Summer is here at last! Congratulations on making it after months of energy drinks, dark coffee and sleepless nights. Now what? If you have not yet landed yourself a graduate job, here are 4 ways to spend your summer after graduation productively . Apply for internships Do not feel disheartened even if you may not have a graduate job lined up right after graduation. Many students are in the same boat as you are! In fact, consider your summer as a time to give more thought to what career path you would like to pursue. Many students rush into working immediately after undergraduate school and end up realising that they absolutely abhor their jobs. Internships are a great way to give you a taste of what the job may entail, hence giving you the chance to make a well informed decision. Learn a new skill Studying at law school has taught me a lot of personal, professional and life skills. However, as someone who is venturing into an entirely different career path, I believe that it is important to constantly improve and enrich ourselves by learning new skills. Especially in this day and age, new technology is coming into place regularly, and most companies value students who are able to demonstrate their ability to code or understand how SEO works. Most of all, you can learn how to code for free via online courses such as Code Academy. You can also learn how to code the ‘fun’ way with Code.org which is more children friendly with their cartoon themed lessons. At the same time, if you are interested in learning more about how SEO works, Google also offer free courses on Google analytics which is immensely useful. Volunteering Volunteering is not only a great way in filling the void of your long summer holiday after graduation; it is also a meaningful learning process. You may find yourself discovering or acquiring new talents that may change the way you view yourself, and also gain knowledge into how the non-government and non-profit organisations function. It is also a great opportunity to widen your horizon and experience different cultures if you go abroad. As corny as it may sound, we, as the younger generation, are the key to improve our world and society. The future of our next generation depends on the decisions we make. If you are unsure where to start, most universities offer volunteering abroad programmes! Other than that, organisations like WorldWide Volunteering provide a vast database of opportunities where students are able to volunteer in UK and other parts of the world such as Cameroon, Vietnam, Cambodia and Bulgaria. Work holiday If you want to travel as well as earning some money, a work holiday will be the perfect option for you! Australia is one of the most popular destinations for work holidays. It has epic beaches, amazing views, sunny weather and most importantly, the pay is incredibly good!   The Australian government provides a working holiday maker program which includes a working holiday visa that allows you to work and travel in Australia for 12 months and study in Australia for 4 months. Companies like BUNAC is among a few that provides students with work holiday packages that helps you with accommodation, social activities, job hunting and any other help that you will need to have a once in a life time experience during your work holiday. BUNAC also offers work holiday opportunities to Canada, America and New Zealand. Connect with Debut on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn for more careers insights.

Go Your Own Way Why Careers Are Changing - CareerAlley

Go Your Own Way Why Careers Are Changing - CareerAlley We may receive compensation when you click on links to products from our partners. It wasnt too long ago that workers would find themselves entering the family business. No matter whether that business was owned by their forefathers or just the career that everyone went into, it was natural that your skill set would be influenced by your parents. And they had the contacts to get you a job. Once in the family business, people tended to stay until retirement. There are no boundaries for what you could do. So how do you figure out your next move? Tweet This Now, of course, everything has changed. You might go to university to do a degree in literature, convert to law, spend a couple of years helping couples divorce and then pivot into flower arranging. From there you might discover a talent for blogging, set up a social media consultancy and then decide to cut loose and travel the world as a digital nomad. Honestly this could be the first 10 years of your career. There are no boundaries for what you could do. So how do you figure out your next move? Photo by John Schnobrich on Unsplash Education, Learning and Building Soft Skills When you arent sure what to do with your career, it can feel quite paralyzing. You arent sure whether you will be good at something, dont know whether you would enjoy it or even if the experience will be worthwhile. What you havent realized is that you are in a brilliant position. Try everything that will help you build up your skills and treat ever experience as a learning opportunity. Your career always comes down to the education you have and the education you want. And, when you are more open-minded, even the worst experiences are opportunities to grow and change. Of course, some skills are more highly valued than others. For example, you might consider PMP Certification Course which can be applied to a wide variety of different industries. Similarly, you might consider working on your digital skills from SEO and social media to basic blogging. The more transferable skills you build, the more likely it is that you will be able to move on to a different job or industry when you are ready to move on. Every job you do and every place you work should offer you some opportunity to learn. Indeed, some of the most high value skills can be learned anywhere including management skills, interpersonal skills and language skills. As you develop and grow in the workplace, your ability to get along with others and work as a team will significantly improve and this is invaluable when you are just starting out. Instead of relying on someone elses vision of what the best careers are, look to yourself and to your hobbies, interests, and skills in order to gain insight into the type of job that is right for you. Whether you are a seasoned professional looking to make a mid-career switch or a younger person just entering the job market, spending some time reflecting on what you want and need from your career will pay off in the end, in more than just dollars and cents. Examine Your Hobbies Interests to Discover Your Career Path Follow Your Passions and Interests You will spend a significant portion of your life at work. Working 9-5 5 days a week for around 48 weeks a year is a lot of time especially when you factor in the amount of time you sleep! In fact, around 20% of US workers work a 60 hour week. Given that you spend so much time at work, you really should find a job that you enjoy doing and feel is worthwhile. Following your passions is a good idea but dont just think about the hobbies you enjoy. Consider which activities make you feel good and what could be transferable. For example, you might find settling family arguments quite satisfying which could translate into working as a lawyer, a mediator or a psychologist. Open your mind to what you enjoy and then try matching yourself to a career. But that doesnt mean that you have to spend all your time in one job. Freelancing is a good opportunity you can make for yourself and a chance to play about with your career. You can spend a couple of days at one job and a few days at another; you could build your own business while working occasional shifts; or you could do project work and bounce from job to job. Freelancing is now much more popular and is a good way to build experience while you are young and just starting out. But freelancing is also a good way to figure out what you really want to do and find a balance. Lots of freelancers do a range of things to earn money over the weeks, months and years and there is a lot of seasonal work out there if you fancy it. Dont Close Any Doors Work Your Network Your network is one of the most important resources available when you are trying to find a job or work out what could be good for you. In years gone by, you would have relied upon your family connections to get a job but in the digital age, you can connect with people online all the time. Navigating your first networking event might sound scary but really, it is just a chance to talk to people in a particular industry and see what their business is about. If you are just starting out, going to a networking event is a good way to build up some contacts and, hopefully, get a bit of work experience to see whether the job could be for you. Similarly, the more people you know, the more likely you are to find out when companies are hiring. Knowing when a company is hiring is half the battle when you are job hunting. Building your network is all about making and keeping work friends. This doesnt mean you have to have a cozy chat every week, it just means that you keep up on sites like LinkedIn and know that you can get in touch again any time. As you go from job to job, be careful not to burn any bridges. Careers are gradually changing and the rules are relaxing too. You dont need to show that you can work in one place for a year if you are unhappy you should move on! You dont need to enter the family business or stick with the same industry for your entire career. The reality is that the more you move, the more experience you get. And the more experience you have, the better choices you will make. What's next? Ready to take action? Choose the right tools to help you build your career. Looking for related topics? Resume Writing - How to Make It Easy

Resume Writing - How to Make It EasyIf you are like most people, chances are you have to deal with resume writing at some point. Resume writing can be incredibly difficult at times, but it doesn't have to be. The following steps will show you how to make resume writing as easy as possible.First, when you are writing your resume, make sure you list everything. A good rule of thumb is that anything that has to do with the skills and abilities you possess must be mentioned. For example, you may have to go to school, and maybe you're a certified nurse. If so, this will need to be mentioned, but not anywhere else.Second, when you are trying to find out what trendy clothes were in stock, make sure you have the specific store name. You may need to ask a colleague to help you. The internet has many different resources available that can help you with this, but it can be difficult to find out which stores provide the information.Third, when trying to find out which clothing stores are in stoc k, ask them. Some stores offer this information on their website, but others won't.Fourth, if you need to find a new job, make sure you check with the company to see if they offer discounts for employees who wear their clothes. They may give you some sort of discount for wearing their clothes!Seventh, when you are trying to get one of the jobs you have applied for, try to apply for as many jobs as you can! This will allow you to see what is being offered and to narrow down your search if you need to.Remember that resume writing is extremely difficult, and if you don't keep track of all the different steps, you will end up running into many problems. However, with a little preparation, you can save yourself a lot of trouble by keeping a good, organized resume.

PewDiePie, the Richest YouTube Star of All Time Is Fired

PewDiePie, the Richest YouTube Star of All Time Is Fired If you play video games, or are under the age of 20, you’ve likely heard of PewDiePie. He’s the irreverent YouTube vlogger (or video blogger) who reviews products from Nintendo, Sony-Playstation and the like, while also poking fun at Internet culture. He also happens to be the richest YouTube star of all time: Forbes says he made approximately $15 million last year, more than anyone else doing similar work. In total, his videos have been viewed 14.7 billion times, more than any other individual on YouTube. And with 53 million subscribers, he has nearly double as many subscriptions as the video streaming service’s next top star. But this week, the reputation of PewDiePie, whose real name is Felix Kjellberg, suffered a major blow: Disney, the company that owns the studio that helps promote Kjellberg’s videos, severed its ties with him after the Wall Street Journal reported that Kjellberg has posted nine videos since August that include offensive material. In some of the videos, he paid two shirtless Indian men to make a video holding up a sign that said “Death to All Jews.” In another, he showed a man dressed as Jesus Christ saying, “Hitler did absolutely nothing wrong.” YouTube, which is owned by Google, followed suit, announcing it would pull Kjellberg’s channel from its premium advertising program and cancel the second season of his reality show, Variety reported. Kjellberg responded to the initial Wall Street Journal report in a Tumblr post, saying he was “trying to show how crazy the modern world is, specifically some of the services available online. “I understand that these jokes were ultimately offensive,” he added. “As laughable as it is to believe that I might actually endorse these people, to anyone unsure on my standpoint regarding hate-based groups: No, I don’t support these people in any way.” While it is too early to say what the lasting impact of his getting dropped will be, NeoReach, a social media data company, told MONEY that losing the YouTube agreement could end up costing Kjellberg millions of dollars.

3 Reasons Why Top Recruiters Have A Personal Brand - Work It Daily

3 Reasons Why Top Recruiters Have A Personal Brand - Work It Daily Are you ready to get HIRED? There are several top names in the recruiting world and many more you recognize from quickly perusing LinkedIn or job boards. Some are known for the advice they offer other recruiters, others are known for their high-profile clients or for their transitions into blogging. However, one thing among these top recruiters is ubiquitous: they all have a strong personal brand. (Psst! Can’t get hired? Watch this free tutorial.) Not unlike the ways candidates are expected to brand themselves, top recruiters recognize that having an effective personal brand means more than completing their LinkedIn profile (which you should do, too!). It means defining who you are as a person and showcasing how that impacts who you are as a recruiter. It means that you establish your values, your skills, and what separates you from other recruiters, while leaving a welcome mat outside your brand for candidates to come interact. With the right profiles, tools, and exposure, you can develop your own personal brand and boost your climb into the top recruiters’ space. Even if you’ve encountered other recruiters’ content or brands, before you start, you might still be wondering why it matters and how it’s done. Take a look at some of the biggest reasons: Here are three reasons why top recruiters have a personal brand: 1. Build Relationships Now more than ever, sophisticated job seekers are disrupting the old ways of recruiting. Not only do they have more power to choose a job that suits them best, but they have different expectations for what their job searching and hiring processes will look like. Part of this means that they want to get to know you as a recruiter before they apply. In a recent survey of our readers, 70% of professionals stated that they’d be more likely to apply for a job if they knew more about the recruiter. When asked why, some responded that they prefer to shape their applications and interactions with you based on what they learn about you, while others pointed out that it helps them feel more confident about applying and better able to understand your perspective. No matter the reason, don’t you feel more comfortable reaching out to someone when you have something in common, can relate to them in some way, or when it’s an acquaintance? Your target talent are no different. Even if they’re not ready (or a right fit) for your jobs right now, that doesn’t mean they won’t be the right candidate ever. It pays off for you in the long run if you develop relationships with your audience because you never know who you may be prospecting down the road. It’s much simpler to build relationships as a recruiter when you’ve clearly defining your brand and given talent something with which to engage. 2. Establish Your Expertise Are you an excellent tech recruiter? Perhaps the go-to recruiter for trade jobs? Maybe you recruit for executives? In the recruiting space, there are many areas for recruiters to specialize in. Some of you have a knack for a particular industry because you’ve worked in it before, and others just innately understand their fields’ needs. However you came to specialize your recruiting efforts - the unique skills or expertise that YOU bring to the table over the next recruiter - is what you need to showcase to both potential employers and to talent. When you build your brand around being a certain type of recruiter, and establish what you’re known for, you’re showcasing to potential employers that you are the person for the job when they’re looking for their next recruiter. We say “Every Job Is Temporary,” because you should always be looking to expand your career and seek growth. To do so effectively, you should always be shaping your personal brand to say, “This is who I am,” and be ready to back it up with examples of your accomplishments. The same thing holds true for the way you showcase your expertise to talent. Just like you expect prospective talent to brand themselves for the jobs they want, candidates anticipate that you deeply understand the needs of the field or position and are able to effectively interpret their experience. It’s challenging for talent to prepare for an interview if they’re not confident you speak the same industry-language. If you say you’re a tech recruiter, let your brand show how you’re knowledgeable about the needs in the tech space and that you will recognize the solutions provided a chosen candidate. 3. Earn Applicants While reasons #1 and #2 can also help you earn applicants, this final reason is a little different: building your personal brand in recruiting helps you drive traffic to your job postings that wouldn’t otherwise be seen. The first parts of building your personal brand really are about defining who you are as a person and recruiter, and building relationships with your target candidates. This last reason is about getting their attention to a place where most talent aren’t even looking. At least 75% of the talent pool is made up of passive candidates, so it should be no surprise that these people are relatively happy where they are, and not actively looking at your open positions. To earn their attention, you can leverage your recruiter brand. Because your brand establishes your credibility and earns talent’s trust, you can offer a call-to-action or an invitation to them to engage with you more directly: by applying to your jobs. People don’t connect with companies; they connect with the people, values, and culture within the companies. As a recruiter, you are a major part of creating that connection! By showcasing your personal brand, you’re showing prospective candidates your identity and letting them connect with you. As a result, they will be more compelled to check out the jobs you suggest. As you delve into developing your personal brand, be sure to consider your target audience with this mantra: “Be who you are, where they are.” If you’re looking for a particular type of candidate, ask yourself where they’re spending their time and the types of resources they’re looking for. Building your brand as a recruiter doesn’t have to drain your budget. With free tools like LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram, you can engage talent where they are already spending their time by being yourself and letting them learn more about you. By blogging on a company page or a website of your own, you can feature your own profiles, illustrate your brand, or provide application and career resources your audience needs most. Freezing Eggs 6 Things to Know

Freezing Eggs 6 Things to Know Brigitte Adams became a champion of egg freezing (oocyte cryopreservation, in medical terms) when she appeared on the cover of Bloomberg Businessweek four years ago. The late 30s Vassar graduates picture was situated under the headline, Freeze your eggs, Free your career. At age 45, she unfroze her eggs and selected a sperm donor. But the brde of her frozen eggs failed to produce a pregnancy, Brigitte was heartbrokenand realized she needed a plan B.Heralded as a marvel of reproductive medicine, egg freezing has become a popular trend among professional women. In fact, some employers, including Facebook and Apple, are helping their workers finance the procedure. But while freezing eggs has many benefits, and can seem like a way to stop a womans biological clock from ticking awayessentially a means of fertility preservationthe procedure may not necessarily be the godsend many women assume it is. Here are six realities of freezing your eggs you should know before you take the plunge.6 Facts to Know Before Freezing Your Eggs1. Success satzs vary.According to The Washington Post, a woman who freezes 10 eggs at age 36the average age women opt to have the procedurehas a 30 to 60 percent chance of having a baby with her frozen eggs later. A Brigham and Womens study published in Human Reproduction predicts a 70-90% success rate for women under 35 who freeze 10-20 eggs (success, in this case, means at least one live birth).Successful pregnancy rates depend on numerous factors, including the womans age (fertility starts to decline around age 35) and the quality of the sperm used to fertilize the eggs.2. Women choose to freeze their eggs for many reasons. While many women cite their lack of a lebensgefhrte and their biological clock as the primary reasons to freeze eggs, others choose to do so for other reasons. Some cancer treatments and other medical issues may damage the ovaries or cause premature menopause. Women who have these illnesses may elect to have their eggs frozen to increase the odds that they may have children after their medical treatments. Many women opt to freeze their eggs for professional reasons. They may choose to focus on their careers and delay having children until later.3. The procedure is invasive. The egg retrieval process is the same as the first phase of in vitro fertilization. Women receive powerful hormone injections that stimulate the ovaries to produce multiple eggs. Youll need to undergo numerous blood tests and ultrasounds along with the injections for weeks before the retrieval. After one or two weeks, the egg retrieval process is initiated. The doctor will push a needle through the vagina to the ovarian follicle, and a suction device attached to the end of the needle will remove the eggs. Most women are under lau anesthesia for the procedure. The unfertilized eggs are them taken to a lab and undergo the freezing process, in which they are cooled to subzero temperatures for storage.RisksThe re is a small risk of infection, and some women may experience ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS), in which they have a strong reaction to the hormone treatments and their ovaries become swollen. Many women who experience ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome have only a mild reaction, but others may experience nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. In rare cases, it can lead to kidney failure, blood clots, or even death. The hormone shots can cause different reactions in different women. Some may experience mood swings, irritability, or bloating, while others may have no responses.4. Egg freezing can be expensive.A single freezing cycle usually costs between $5,000-8,000, according to Money magazine. Doctors usually recommend that you undergo two cycles. And thats not the end of the process. When youre ready to use your frozen eggs, youll need to have them fertilized for in-vitro fertilization. IVF can cost upwards of $10,000.Insurance is unlikely to cover the procedures, since the procedure is considered elective, unless treatment for a medication disease or condition like cancer may render her infertile.5. Eggs from younger women are mora viable. Many women know that the likelihood of chromosomal abnormalities climbs as they get older. Theres also a higher risk of miscarriage and birth defects, as well as disorders that can make it more difficult for them to conceive. The best time to freeze eggs, medically speaking, is in your late 20s or early 30s, since your fertility (egg production) starts to decline when your reach 35. That doesnt mean a woman over 40 cant get pregnant, but it does mean she might need to go through more cycles than a younger woman, and her chances of having a successful pregnancy decline.Given the cost and risks involved in freezing eggs, woman in their 20s may choose to wait a few years before making the decision to undergo the hormone therapies and freezing process. Still, to maximize your chances of becoming pregnant, its best to free ze your eggs by the age of 35.6. Embryo freezing may yield higher pregnancy rates than egg freezing.Frozen embryos are more viable than frozen unfertilized eggs, so if you have a partner now, you may want to have your eggs mixed with your partners sperm and freeze the embryos to increase your likelihood of a resulting pregnancy. This will also save you a step in the processafter thawing the frozen embryos, you will be able to undergo in-vitro fertilization right away. The Bottom LineBrigittes story has a happy ending. She underwent IVF again, now with a donor egg and donor sperm. Her baby is due in May.While freezing your eggs can give you back some time, act as a source of fertility preservation, and serve as a stress and anxiety reliever, its important to review all the risks, information, and success rates before undergoing the procedure. Weigh the pros and cons, and understand that theres no guarantee involved in the process.
